Since the release of her solo album ten years ago, Lauryn Hill has been something of a recluse. But apparently the way to get her out of the house is to host a Martha Stewart book signing. The two feminist icons met at a book store in New Jersey last week. But what's really going on with Lauryn? I'm just not understanding why she chose to paint her lips with black soot. Or does another substance the cause of the color of her lips? I'm well aware that she'd fallen on tough times and had become a bit mentally unattached over the past several years--the breakup of her long-term romantic and professional relationship with Wyclef Jean, the disbandment of The Fugees, the domestic problems with, Rohan Marley, the married father of her five children as well as the most anticipated and subsequent failure of making a comeback after she soared to the top of the charts with her Grammy Award winning debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill over a decade ago-- but still?
Well, at least her brood looks happy and content, thank God. Lauryn and her five kids: son Zion David Hill-Marley; daughter Selah Louise Marley; son Joshua Marley; and son John Marley now live with her mother in her hometown of South Orange, New Jersey. The couple's fifth child is a baby girl who was born in early 2008. Marley told People magazine that although the baby is 7 months old, she is still without a name.

Wow. I agree with the other two posters. She looks half past depressed. She just had another baby not too long ago so maybe she's going through that post-partum depression phase.
I'd be more concerned if she AND her children were all looking down and out in that picture. It looks like they don't have a care in the world. And despite the expression on their mother's face, that's a good thing. You'd think their smiling faces would place a smile on hers as well.
I feel her though, the music business is corrupt and if your not mentally, physically and spiritually stable the pressures of it will send you into a breakdown. Hell, look at Britney! She looks content though. Her kids look content. I hope she does make a come back...on her terms.
Oh my goodness!!! Rohan Marley is still married and not her by now with the five children?! You could never get me to be with another Jamaican man! Just plain f**king STRESS!! can't get me to date any island man. The LIES and empty promises are taking a toll from the look on her face. She needs to go to England or Japan without Rohan for a bit and breathe. I wonder if he's told her no other man would want her with all her kids? She shaved her head to get rid of all that negative energy, but she still looks stressed. Somebody HELP her 'cause we all miss YOU LAURYN!!!
I am the biggest lauryn Hill fan ever, but I have to agree with pigskin loving lady, she does look sad. Man whats up?
18 years later and still nothing. I mean we did receive her UnPlugged album wholeheartedly but even thru that project her emotional x mental episode during (I Gotta Find) Peace of Mind said it all.. She did look happy when Rohan joined her in the end I believe she referred to him as her husband x that was in 2001...but nearly 20 years later x all we get are concert performances where she shows up hours late—- if at all. The world really didn’t treat Lauryn right x now we are paying for it. The industry tried to take her out, luckily she got out x is returning on her terms. She is such a tremendous artist even after everything she’s been thru that’s for certain! God Bless her!!!
