Thousands of rappers, DJs, producers and music fans were in Miami Monday night for the Ozone Awards, which honor southern hip-hop and R&B. The event, hosted by southern hip-hop magazine Ozone, drew performances by national and local hip-hop celebrities such as Tallahassean T-Pain, who performed his hit single Buy UA Drank (Shawty Snappin) and Miamians DJ Khaled, Rick Ross and Pitbull. Other performers included Atlanta's Shop Boyz and Louisiana's Hurricane Chris.
''It's important to have everybody represented in hip-hop, especially the South,'' said Miami rapper Trina (Katrina Le'verne Taylor), who has collaborated with rappers such as Ludacris and Missy Elliott. ''We have our own clothes and our own language,'' she said. She came dressed as Wonder Woman to the event at the James L. Knight Center. Hosted by comedian Lil' Duval, who has been a regular on BET's Comic View, the show will air in MTV Jams -- a hip-hop-oriented channel -- September 1-3.
This is the second year of the Ozone Awards, which were hosted in Orlando last year. The location for the 2008 show hasn't been decided.
What in the everlasting hell were Trina and Jacki-O thinking?!! That shit is not a good look.
